Congratulations to Tara on a successful grant application!

The following is her grant proposal:

"I am a dancer, nurse, and an artist. I have been a practicing artist for over 20 years and have recently, within the past 7 years, brought together my love for performance and nursing into the hospital setting. I work with nurses through the arts offering tools and resources to combat compassion fatigue and nursing burnout. I create immersive theater performances that take place in site specific locations, including hospitals and use story telling to explore grief, connection, loss, joy, and beauty found in the small everyday moments. I have my MFA in dance and have taught in the University setting, dance studios, and workshops both in the US and Europe. I am a choreographer who creates immersive experiences that cannot happen without the interaction of the participant alongside the artist or performer. This creates a sense of intimacy and care and allows for fear to replaced with excitement and creativity. I most recently have worked with nurses from our workshops to create performances that are performed for other nurses and hospital administration that share the struggles experienced by nurses and the grief they carry on a daily basis. This work has been transformed into Resiliency Moments that takes place over Zoom that includes artists and nurses coming together to experience the arts through a curated experience for one nurse at a time based on the artists expertise and medium.

Grant funds will be used to fund Resiliency Moments an online project that brings artists and nurses together to have one on one artistic experiences where nurses feel seen, heard, and cared for during COVID. Nurses will sign up in advance and be placed in a break out room on ZOOM with one artist who has prepared and curated an experience for the nurse that is meant as a gift to receive or share."

There is no specific type of artist that we focus on or primarily support. Creative expression comes in a wide variety of artistic disciplines and genres. We are looking for passion and excellence in your craft. Tell us why your work is important to you and how you hope it will impact others.
