The following are excerpts from his grant proposal:

My name is Raymond Enriquez and I am an artist/photographer/author from Kapolei, Hawaii. My main artistic practice is in fine art digital photography in which I've been doing since the age of 15. I'm an 2018 Alumni of The Academy of Art University with a BFA in Photography.

Over the course of years, my style and approach to photography has evolved. One that I'd consider an external process, transitioned into the internal; A personal journey into healing the subconscious from the conscious. I execute this through fine art landscape photography.

On my quest to express gratitude for nature, my work portrays the tranquil, refreshing and healing powers of the earth, with hopes to encourage preservation, self-awareness, and self-healing.

Venturing into nature allows my mind, body, and soul to quiet down; to live in the present moment and indulge myself into a place of pure peace. Photographing nature helps me cope with the noises inside. Every moment I photograph the earth it's as if it whispers words of unconditional love and appreciation to my own existence. Those very things are what I want others to feel through my imagery...I simply want to share and preserve this abundant resource of healing.

All of images are of my ongoing project, "Regeneration." The first image is called "Entering the Forest of Trees." The trees and dead leaves symbolizing life withering away from the depressive feelings you sometimes feel in life; reluctant to venture deeper within, but knowing a peaceful place, with space, lay ahead. My second image is "Greenery." A depiction of the wide-open space hidden far above the city streets of San Jose, California. This image is meant to allow room for you to breathe again. My last image is called "Regeneration." An image of the river flowing into the ocean at San Gregorio Beach in California as the sun starts to set for the day. The river symbolizing any negative energy flowing out of you and the ocean sunset being a symbol for the rejuvenation of the mind, body, and soul.

The funds would be used to pay for print material for my ongoing project, 'Regeneration" --  a project started in 2018 that portrays my gratitude, love and appreciation towards nature. Taking the viewer on a journey through nature with the purpose to look deep within one's self, to help diminish societies conditioning of technological reliance and to accompany the release of negative energy and the regeneration of positivity towards the self, the soul and the consciousness.
