Monday:

7:15-8:00PM     Afro-Modern                 Ages: 12-up

*****Take both classes for $90 or $55 for either class - come warmed up for Afro-Modern.

Tuesday:
5:30-6:15PM      Beg. Ballet 1        Ages: 7-11 yrs
6:30-7:30PM      Beg. Ballet 2              Ages: 12 yrs-up

Wednesday:
5:00-5:30PM      Creative Combo 1  (Pre-K)            Ages: 4-5 yrs.
5:30-6:15PM      Creative Combo 2        Ages: 6-7 yrs.
6:30-7:15PM      Hip Hop 1           Ages: 7-11 yrs.
7:15-8:15PM      Hip Hop 2                           Ages: 12-18 yrs.

Thursday:
7:30-8:15PM      African Djembe Drumming   Ages: 12 yrs-up
(Must provide your own drum - 4 week session: $30)

Sunday:  
3:00-5:00PM      Imani! Dancers Ensemble class & rehearsal 
(By audition only - call if interested....male dancers)

DANCE CLASS FEES:
60 min class: $65    /     45 min class: $55    /    30 min class $45    /    Single classes: $10
    
DISCOUNTS:
  • Must register prior to 2nd class meeting.
  • Family rate: $150 per term (3 or more in a family / per additional family member or class).

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
African Dance: Learn traditional moves from West Africa

Afro-Modern: Afro-ethnic dance combined with the grace and expressiveness of Modern dance...easy on the joints...simple movement combinations.

Beg. Ballet: Enjoy the grace and control of classical ballet. Learn basic form, steps and vocabulary.

Creative Combo: Little ones have fun exploring the basic elements of dance, shape, space, energy, rhythm & loco-motor steps along with various folk / ethnic / tap dancing.

Hip Hop: Popular dance forms with quick moves and contemporary combinations.

ABOUT DORIAN W. BYRD:
Dorian W. Byrd, performing artist, instructor, choreographer, and storyteller received her BFA degree from the Juilliard School and her MA degree from the University of Iowa dance programs. Her varied background in dance and performing arts include work in the states and abroad and covers a wide range of dance style from classical to modern and ethnic dance forms. She formerly danced with Dianne McIntyre's SOUNDS IN MOTION, ELIZABETH KEEN DANCE COMPANY, and GLENN BROOKS THIRD WORLD MOVEMENTS in New York City. Dorian has conducted residencies for numerous Artist-In-School programs throughout the states of New York, Nebraska, and Iowa. College teaching includes University of Nebraska, Delta College, Teikyo Marycrest University, University of Iowa and currently Augustana College. She is founder and director of the Imani! Dancers! & Studio for Cultural Arts, Inc., a faith based dance company specializing in gospel and African-American heritage material. Dorian is married to Palmer Byrd II, and has two daughters, Briana and Ashley.
